Many university faculty have learned to teach by teaching. As we transition to truly online courses (as opposed to the emergency switch to remote instruction), now is the time to think intentionally about how we teach and how to design opportunities for students to learn. Different students learn differently. Content selection; transparent structure, organization and course facilitation; and scaffolded exercise/assignment development are far more important in an online environment than in face-to-face courses.
This guide contains information and resources to help you develop research-based, pedagogically sound approaches for crafting engaging and effective learning experiences for the students in your courses, in other words, a really good online class. As you encounter examples and develop your own, please share: we will add more information here. This Guide is a living document; please check back often.
